Get the Most Out of Your At-Home Workout

With gyms closing and COVID stay at home orders, working out at home has become a great option. Many have committed to daily workouts online versus going to the gym.

However, many people are still trying workouts at-home for the first time. Here are 3 quick tips to get the most out of your workout from the comfort of your own home.

  1. Set the stage. No matter what workout you’ll be doing, setting the stage is key to getting a good workout. Even if space is limited, make sure you can extend your arms wide to allow for full-body movements. Clear the floor and set up a towel or mat to reduce slipping on hard surfaces. Find a good place set up your laptop, tv or streaming device, so that you can see and hear it well. Finally, if it’s not a live stream, fast forward through the workout to make sure you have room to perform all the exercises and have the right equipment.
  2. Make it stick. Schedule your workouts like you would a trip to the gym. Procrastinating is easy — especially if you’re working from home. There are so many things that just pop up in your day. Putting a set time to your fitness practice will help you stick to it!
  3. Be present. If you have a few minutes to change your clothes and be present for your workout, you will get more out of it. Making sure to disconnect from outside stress and put your phone on “Do Not Disturb” if you are able.
